1. What is a Role Model?
a. Someone who is imitated or attempted to be imitated
b. Two types of Role Models:
i. Knowing
ii. Unknowing
2. Who are Role Models?
a. Parents, Brothers, Sisters, and other Family members
b. Teachers, instructors, and coaches
c. Friends
d. Can we all be considered Role Models?
3. What are the characteristics of a Role Model?
a. Positive Traits (Galatians 5:22 – 23)
b. Negative Traits (Galatians 5:19 –22)
4. What is the importance of Role Models in a youth’s life?
a. Example for the children to follow
b. Domino effect of influence
c. The earlier a child discerns right from wrong the better (Proverbs 20:11)
5. What are the responsibilities of Role Models?
a. Demonstrate the correct example (Mathew 5:13 – 16)
b. To evaluate our faults and improve on them (Matthew 7:3 – 4)
c. To evaluate and correct the faults of children (Proverbs 23:12 –14))
6. Is there a difference between a Role Model in a societal sense and a Christian Role Model?
a. Introduce them to the Church and Faith (Ephesians 6:4)
b. Challenges they face as a Christian youth in society
c. Prepare them for encounters with people who will challenge their faith
7. Do we behave differently if we know we are being watched or looked up to as a Role Model? Should we?
a. Guard our actions if we know or think we are being watched
b. Why do we let our “guard down” if we are not being watched?
c. Do we take more responsibility for our actions if they may impact other people?
8. What are the challenges that a Role Model faces?
a. The youth should be following the Lord’s example (Matthew 23:10)
b. Act as Role Models to all the youth (Hebrews 13:2)
c. Not to embody the “Do as we say, not as we do” approach
