HH received Bishop William Sweeping (?) the Anglican church bishop in San Francessco on Wednesday, March, 20th to arrange for a inter-religious conference in mid 1997 to talk about matters for the international soceity benefit. Four members of the Coptic Community Council (El Magglis El Milli) attended the meeting, who were authorized by the rest of the council to investigate the situation. With Pishopric of Services -------------------------- HH opened the exhibition of the products of the program of women and development on Tuesday March, 19th. in the first floor of Pishopric of Services. HH encouraged the people involved in the activity. Talk with the Swidish church ---------------------------- The conference took place in St. Bishoy monestary from March 10th to 12th. The Coptic delegates were HG Anba bishoy, HG Anba Moussa, HG Anb a Tomas, and Dr. Mahfouz Adeeb Mitry. The Swedish delegate were Bishop Bengt, Rev. Gunnar Lind, Dr. Samuel Rubenson, and Mr. Jan Henningsson. It was arranged that the next meeting will be in Swedin in mid-February, 1997. HG Anba Timouthaous went to Fayoum to pray and preach on Thursday, and Friday March, 14th and 15th. Then, HG went to Nage' Hammadi and Kena for spiritual service from Saturday to Thursday, Mrach, 16th, to 21st. HG Anba Boulis came back to Cairo on Friday, March 15th to visit mot her church for a week. HH received him and talked about service in Africa. Mother Praxid was accompanied by Sister Aldivons from the Jerusalem Rose Monasticism, Sister Andria from St. Clair School, Heliopolis, and Sister Dolorious from the Vatican Em bassy in Cairo The death of Sheikh Al Azhar ---------------------------- We were shocked by the sudden death of Sheikh Al Azhar, Sheikh Gad Al Haq Ali Gad Al Haq. His relation of the Coptic curch was very good. He used to come to the Papal center to attend all the breakfast celebrations that the Patriarchate used to make. We exchanged greetings in feasts. HH sent a delegation to attend his funeral. The delegation consisted from: HG Anba Rewais, HG Anba Moussa, HG Anba Bisenti, and Fr. Daowd Tad ros. HH also sent a telegram to express his consolidence. This telegram was published in the newspapers, and was broadcasted in TV and radio. HH came from the monestary to Cairo where he went to the "Soradaq" in front of Al Azhar. HH was accompanied by HG Anba Rewais, HG Anba Moussa, HG Anba Youannes, Fr. Daowd Tadros, Fr. Anastassi El Samwili, Fr. Theodous Al Suriany, Fr. Salib MAtta Sawirous, where HH expressed his condolidence to the family. The Coptic Community Council (El Maglis El Milli) meeting --------------------------------------------------------- The Coptic Community Council had a meeting on Thursday, March, 14th to a investigate about the harms that happened to Copts in Ezbet El Akbat in Assuit, and Kafr Dimian in Sharquia. Athanasious Is-hak, our priest in Greece, came back to Cairo on Sunday March, 10th to visit mother church for a week. HH received him on Wednesday, March, 13th. Fr. Shenouda Halim, our priest in Holmdale NJ, came back to Cairo on Wednesday March, 13th. HH received him on Saturday, March, 16th. HG Anba Samuel visit to Kinya and Sudan -- ------------------------------------- HG Anba Samuel spent two weeks in visiting our churches in Kinya and Sudan. HG prayed and gave speeches there which emphasized the Coptic arts and monuments to tie our brothers and sisters in Kinya and Sudan with mother church in Egypt, and to know its valuable culture. The service in Kinya was all conducted in English. Then, HG arrived to Khartoum airport Wednesday night, March, 13th, where HG was received by a huge congrigation of our Coptic Sudaneese brot hers and sisters with the priests of Khartoum and Um Dorman, headed by HG Anba Sarabamoun, Bishop of Um Dorman, Atbara, and Port Sudan. HG went to St. Dimiana church where HG thanked our Lord. HG celebrated many masses and gave lectures about Coptic arts, which were attended by thousands in St. Dimiana and Marig Guirguis in Um Dorman, The two myrters church in Al Imtidad, Virgin Mary and Anba Abraam church in Khartoum, Bahary, and Mari Mina church in Um Dorman, Virgin Mary church in Khartoum. Particpated in the masses and lectures, HG Anba Sarabamoun, Bishop of Um Dorman.
