Specially in the circle of leaders in Cairo. How many meetings, gatherings thinking and preparations to prepare the big festival and it's needs. Work began in St Ruweis area. - Preparing the Theological Seminary Library. By making new suitable wooden places. Appointing a dedicated full time librarian. Ordering books for the library from abroad as well as from Coptic bookstores in Egypt. - Painting the seminarians' hostel. - Planting the area by the help of the ministry of agliculture on the orders of Dr Youssef Waly may the Lord reward him. - Preparing St Ruweis hall and theater. - And we might say that it was rebuilt after last year's fire. Covered with wood from the inside. Seats prepared. Electrecity. Enlarging the theater and all curtons. - Meetings were held with church representatives to suggest servants to be ordained as priests in the jubilee. Throught meetings in Cairo and Alexandria. 10 people were suggested for priesthood in Cairo and 6 in Alexandria. As well as 3 for abroad (2 for Australia, one for Germany) Also the monk Armia Ava Mina (HH Secretary) will be ordained as priest. Also St Athanasios the Apostolic shrine was prepared with a sanctuary. On the occasion of the Jubilee many books were written about the achievments. A book from Virgin Mary COC (Mississauga), another by the Bishopric of Youth, another from Eng.Ezzat Salama, a fourth from Hegumen Mikhail Gerges (Damanhour), a fifth from Hegumen Isaiah Mikhail and Mr Antoun Fahmy (Alex), a sixth from HG Abba Samuel bishop of Shebeen El-Kanater and a seventh from Mr Magued Attyia (Australia) Many administrative work was also done. Preparing the program of the celebration, speakers, preparing places tickets invitations and gifts. For all that it was important to ordain a bishop for Sinai. Hegumen Makary El-Ma'ary was chosen for this service. Born on May 12th, 1940 Bachelor of Engineering 1961 Ordained monk in the monastery of "St Makare" on Aug 25th, 1973. HG Abba Serapion will come to Egypt to join HH. Other fathers also will join the group later. The Syrian Monstery's Habous back: --------------------------------- We were glad that the Syrian monstery has received 58 hectar of his habous back. An order was issued by Mr Mostafa Abdel-Fatah Mohamed, head of the Egyptian habous association based on the decision made by the Joint Habous Committee and based also on the advises of Dr Hamdy Mahmoud Zagzoug, minister of habous. On Tuesday Nov 5th, Mr Fayek Fahim, HH lawyer as well as many of the monastery's monks had gone to Menoufeya to receive the habous and finish all the official procedures. Thanks for the government on this wise decision. HH visiting St Makare Monastery (with picture): ---------------------------------------------- On Sunday Nav 3rd '96, HH visited the monastery. HH is seen with Hegumen Matta El-Meskeen and some of the monastery's monks. Appeared on the picture also HG Abba Antonios-Markos and HG Abba Moussa. St Ruweis Feast: --------------- On the evening of Wednesday Oct 30rd, HH celebrated the vespers of St Ruweis. Participated in the prayers HG Abba Antonios-Morcos, HG Abba Ruweis, HG Abba Boutros, HG Abba Picenty and HG Abba Anthony. The saint's tomb was annoyed with perfumes. And on Thursday Oct 31st morning, HG Abba Ruweis celebrated the mass of the feast. HG Abba Moussa: -------------- HH deputed HG Abba Moussa to attend on the morning of Thursday Oct 31st '96 a meeting concerning Jerusalem organised by the Arab League with Dr Esmat Abdel-Megid as chair man. Joint Comittee for diocese development: -------------------------------------- On the evening of Tuesday Nov 5th '96, HH received the members of the advisory comittee for diocese development which is advising the Bishopric of Ecumenical Public and Social Services. The committee had regarded the matters which were presented. Attended the meeting HG Abba Joannes. Meeting with Mrs Embassador of Switzerland: ------------------------------------------ On the morning of Tuesday Oct 29th '96, HH received "Von Gruinigent" the embassador of Switzerland, she was accompanied with one of the diplomats working in the embassy. It was an introductory meeting. The General Congregational Council Meeting: ------------------------------------------ On Thursday Oct 31st '96 evening, the General congregational council met with HH as chair man. and it was decided to form an administrative committee: ------------------------------------------------------ which supervises all adinistrative work done by the Papal Diwan and it's employees. It is formed of: HH as chairman, Dr Tharwat Bassili deputy of the council, Advisor Edward Ghaleb Secretary of the council and the responsibles of the committees: Adv.Wasfy Nashed (Legal Committee), Eng. Michel Fouad (Engineering Committee), Eng.William Metthias (Committee of lands and buildings), Hegumen Dawoud Tadros (Schools Committee) and Hegumen Salib Matta Sewerus (Financial Committee). One month allowance for all the Patriarchate's employees: -------------------------------------------------------- On the Oct 31st meeting, the general congregational council decided to give all the Patriarchate's employees one month's salary on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of HH enthronment. HH inaugurated the branch of the Theological Seminary in Alexandria: ------------------------------------------------------------------- On the evening of Saturday Oct 26th '96, HH inaugurated a branch of the Theological Seminary in Alexandria and gave his lectures to the seminarians. St George (Ardel Genena): Dr Gouda Moussa. Priests for Alexandria: ---------------------- HH met with some of church representatives in Alexandria and it is approved to ordain 6 priests this week. Our son Hady Makram Shenouda, who lost his family in the ruin of the Heliopolis building. He is 13 years old, student at the first year at San George School. When the Heliopolis building fell, he lost his father, mother and young brother. HH received him with his uncles while the research of the victims' bodies is taking place. According to their request, HH ordered to burry the bodies in a special tomb after prayer. On Tuesday Nov 4th, HH received them another time and it was decided that "Hady" will be in HH personal care until the end of his studies, until his uncles take him with them to Jordany. HH will consider him as his own son and will care for him. With responsibles at the Bible House: ------------------------------------ On Wednesday Oct 30th, HH received Mr Ramez Attallah head of the "Bible House" along with responsibles from the house: Dr Wahid Farid, Samy El-Badrawy, Hany Naguib, Ashraf El-Moallem, Youssef Nathan, Nash'at Megala3, Michel Nakhla, Samir Hany, Victor Fayek Samuel Shawky and Eng Maged Seifen. Attended the meeting HG Abba Moussa. The meetings was about cooperation in translations. They attended the meeting of HH where he spoke about the importance of the Bible House for publishing the Bibles. With foreign media: ------------------ On Saturday Oct 26th, HH received in Alexandria a group of foreign media men (Press, TV) in a long interview in the occasion of the Silver Jubilee. They were under the direction of "Vopkhard Windfuhr" head of the "Cairo Foreign Press Association". A German Group at the monastery: ------------------------------- On Sunday Nov 2nd, HH received in the monastery a group of German tourists. They came after their visit to HG Abba Abraam (Fayoum). HH answered all the questions they asked. New year in the Theological Seminary of Cairo: --------------------------------------------- On Tuesday Oct 22nd, the new year began for the Morning Full time students as well as for the Evening Part time students. HH gave three lectures on the Church Canons for the Morning and evening students. Inauguration of the Care Institute: ---------------------------------- On Monday Nov 4th evening, HH inaugurated the care institute. The Icon of the third big window of St Mark Cathedral - Cairo: ------------------------------------------------------------- We began fixing the icon of the third window of St Mark Cathedral Anba Ruweis Cairo.
