HH headed the feast in the old church in Cairo and annointed the shrine with spices which was then distributed to the congragation as blessing. Participated with him Abba Mathaus, Abba Daniel, Abba Samuel and Abba Joannes. HG Abba Ruweis celebrates the feast in St Ruweis Cathedral in Toronto Canada and the priest there is also called Fr Ruweis. How many people were named after hom whether in Egypt or abroad. It might be strange to know that Ruweis was just the name of his camel (which is always seen in his icon) while his real name is Teje (Abba Teje). May be it is the reason why we have a city called (Abu Teeg). Although, he wasn't a monk nor a bishop, he was considered one of the church fathers and was given the title "Abba" for this paternity. And the church assures his holiness and wonders. He lived in the 14th century, in the middle ages which are considered eras of darkness. But there he was the lamp which diffused light. He lived in the time of HH Pope Mathaus (Pope No 87) and he was a saint like him. We ask for the blessings of this saint in whose area we are now living for a while since we moved the Theological Seminary 1953 and it began having big extension, in the same year the Institute of Coptic Studies (ICS) was inaugurated with all it's departements. Then the bishopric of Education, then the bishopric of Social Services, then the bishopric of Youth... The area was filled with people seeking knowledge and services at the bishopric of Social services. Then the Cathedral was built in 1968 under which two churches (Virgin Mary & St Bishoy) and (Virgin Mary & St Ruweis) along with a huge hall, shrine for St Mark, shrine for St Athanasios and the Papal Diwan. Therefore the area became a center for the whole Coptic Church and a center for all the activities. There also the new Papal Residence was built and inaugurated on Jan 5th 1985 and became a place for religious and ecumenical, social and political meetings. We congratulate St Ruweis for this area which became a center for the Coptic church and we congratulate the Coptic church for having St Ruweis blessing it and bearing his name. -=-=-=-=-=-= News =-=-=-=-=-=-= - Once again HH visited St Mina mon. to supervise the new residence which was built for HG Abba Gregorius. - HG Abba Seraphim metropolitan of our Coptic church for the British Orthodox arrived to Egypt.
