Keraza No 27, 28 - dated Friday 17 August 2001, 11 Mesra 1717 Martyrs ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Keraza No 27, 28 - dated Friday 17 August 2001, 11 Mesra 1717 Martyrs ------------------------------------------------------------------------ * In the evening of Saturday 28 July 2001, the newly ordained Abba Ghobriel was enthroned in his diocese of Beni-Sweif. One week after, on Saturday 4 August evening, Abba Stephanos was enthroned on the adjacent diocese of Beba. The ceremony was attended by a dozen of bishops and a number of priests. Among others, His Excellency Saeed El-Nagar the mayor of Beni-Sweif, Head of the Security Department, Security of State Department and many officials. The instrument of appointment was read out loud, the office was concluded then a congratulation word was presented by Bishop Joannes. The new bishop thanked all the audience who felt happy for the division of the former diocese of Beni-Sweif to meet the increasing needs of service for the people. * On Thursday 2 August, Pope Shenouda was escorted by Bishop Sarabamon to St Bishoy Monastery were he stayed for two days in seclusion before heading back to Cairo on Sunday 5 August after a meeting with some visitors. * On Tuesday 31 July morning, the Authority of Coptic Endowments had their meeting headed by Pope Shenouda. New Committees were formed namely the Legal , Financial, Agricultural and Estate Committees. The Administration of some endowments was discussed. * On Saturday 28 July evening, Pope Shenouda drove on to St Mina Church in Fleming Alexandria to attend the Ceremony of the Deaf-Mute. After praying, Heg Sherubim El-Pachomy the prior of the Patriarchate in Alexandria had a word and the programme began. The programme included the Coptic hymns of Ei-Agape, Unto the years and the Second Hose of the Vigil all in sign language. Then a Theater piece about St George was performed as well as some psalms and the Creed. The programme was prepared and performed by St Abraam Group (Cairo), St Arsenios Group (St Mina - Fleming) and El-Asafra Group. The ceremony was concluded by a word of Pope Shenouda where he expressed his admiration for the pieces performed and the ability of the deaf-Mute to pray and praise the Lord in the sign language. * The court repealed the judgement in the case of El-Kosheh previously issued by the HIgh Court of Security of State. Investigation shall be repeated with all accused parties in another court. This judgement was received with joy from the church. * At the Papal Residence in St Bishoy Monastery, Pope Shenouda received the Hungarian Commission who is currently digging and reviving the site of the Glass Monastery (Deir El-Zogag). He had a talk with Dr Gyoso Volos the head of the commission who wrote the book "Joposiris Magna". This book is about the monastery and includes many photos and illustrations. Dr Gyoso was accompanied by Engineer Barnabas Toth Farkas and the monk Fr Lucas El-Suriany who is delegated to work there. They received recently a permit from the Higher Council of Antiquities (Dr Gab Allah) to work there. They invited Pope Shenouda to visit the site next October. * In the period 29 July to 1st August 2001, a workshop was held in the Antonian Nuns Convent in Bekfia Lebanon. The workshop was conducted by the MECC Middle East Council of Churches under the title "Christian Media in the Middle East". More than 40 media person represented 40 Christian magazine in the region. The workshop had many recommendations amongst was the creation of a league for Christian Media people and train new people. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
